Each year, Women’s Equality Day is commemorated on August 26, when the 19th Amendment was certified. Since the League recognizes that the 19th Amendment initially only gave some women the right to vote and that even today women are still not granted the protection of the rights we have fought for, including voting rights, reproductive rights, and equal pay for equal work, we call it Women’s In-Equality Day. Join your fellow LWVSHR local league members for a talk led by a member of the AAUW on the topic of pay equity.
Following the talk, we will hold a brief business meeting to discuss the League’s goals ahead of this year’s election and how you can get involved in the League’s mission of Empowering Voters. Defending Democracy through upcoming Get Out the Vote (GOTV) activities.
