Each year, Women’s Equality Day is commemorated on August 26, when the 19th Amendment was certified. In the League, we acknowledge that the 19th Amendment initially only gave some women the right to vote and that even today women are still not granted the protection of the rights we have fought for, including voting rights, reproductive rights, and equal pay for equal work. Our speaker this year, Sally Daniel of the AAUW, will speak about some of the current pay inequities that women are experiencing.
Following her talk, we will hold a brief business meeting to discuss the League’s goals ahead of this year’s election and how you can get involved in the League’s mission of Empowering Voters, Defending Democracy.
