LWVSHR received this message from Mobilize and verified it by contacting the organizers:
No Kings – Virginia Beach & Norfolk Locations have been moved to Sunday 12 noon -2 p.m.
“Blustery weather blows in tonight and will push our planned October 17 No Kings Day events to Sunday, October 18 from 12 – 2 pm.”
Rallies will be at three intersections in Norfolk and Virginia Beach:
• Brambleton & Monticello Aves in Norfolk
• Virginia Beach & Independence Blvds in Virginia Beach
• Laskin & First Colonial Rds in Virginia Beach
• There will be no car parade.
LWVSHR is not organizing these events, but members are welcome to participate.
No Kings Day events in Virginia Beach and Norfolk are organized by CoVA Coalition.
NO KINGS rallies and protests are planned for Saturday, October 17, in the South Hampton Roads area at various times and locations. The purpose of this year’s event is to encourage people to vote early; signs should reflect that theme. Please remember that if you are wearing or carrying the League logo, you must remain nonpartisan.
We encourage you to use the buddy system and make a safety plan. The NAACP has created a Protest 101 slide show outlining steps you can take to stay safe while using your First Amendment Right to march, rally and protest.
